FRIPPIST: One who creates frippery
FRIPPERY: that which adorns, amuses or excites. Can be viewed by some as frivolous.

As The Fabulous Frippist, I create frippery from many and varied materials. My favourite artistic mediums are polymer clay, fine silver, seed beads and ephemera. Whilst jewellery is my primary motivator and what I end up with mostly – I have ventured into art dolls and sculpture on occasion.

My first love – that which attracted me to designing and making frippery – was polymer clay. This inexpensive, relatively easy to use material is freely available in most Art Supplies stores. Whilst most (uninformed!) folk believe it to be little more than a children’s toy, there are famous and extremely talented artists who have elevated the medium to one that can be used (by itself and with other materials) to make extraordinary pieces of art. See my links page for details of these amazing artists.

My most elaborate and time intensive projects to date have been the GAIA Series. This collection is based on concepts of the Female Divine: - Goddesses from diverse cultures and historical times. Each bead embroidered collar starts out with sketches that dictate shape and form. One or more cabachons are created – usually from polymer clay – and glued into place. The remainder of the collar grows organically from there. Each collar is an heirloom piece. Each bead is hand stitched on to ensure that the collar will last for numerous lifetimes.

Please take the time to browse my gallery. Many of the pieces are for sale. If a piece is available, a price will be listed. If not, the piece is already sold. Email me for further details.
